Their Romance...
In a tech-savvy society, text messages fly back and forth all the time.
But Kristin and Todd will never forget the one that changed their lives forever.
Shortly after moving to Chicago, Kristin though she was sending a text message
to one of her girlfriends. But she accidently texted Todd, who she knew casually
through the same friend. That mistaken text message led to a conversation, then
dinner at a tapas restaurant.
"We drove around the city talking about books and music, our families, jobs and
friends," Kristin says. "I didn't want the night to end. We were pretty much
inseparable after that night."
After dating for more than a year, Todd proposed to Kristin while the two were walking
to a popular Mexican restaurant. During the walk, Todd stopped next to a fountain
off Rush Street. He told Kristin thy were standing where he'd received the infamous
text one and a half years earlier.
"I said, 'Oh, that's sweet,' and continued walking," Kristin says. "Todd got down on
one knee and asked me to marry him right there. I was totally shocked. Luckily, a
nice tourist took our photo and sent it to us later. I love having that moment
captured on film."

Their Wedding...
Kristin and Todd’s classic ceremony took place in the church the bride
attended throughout her childhood.
With an “updated vintage” look in mind for their wedding and reception,
the couple chose rich colors in emerald green and antique gold.
Kristin’s bouquet featured an elegant arrangement of white lisianthus,
white garden roses, white anemones, white ranunculus and seeded eucalyptus
tied with an ivory ribbon. Her bridesmaids carried purple hydrangeas,
apricot tulips, white garden roses and seeded eucalyptus tied with a soft gold ribbon.
Featuring gorgeous architectural elements such as dark wood and grand
windows overlooking the golf course, Makray Memorial Golf Club in
Barrington was the perfect spot to celebrate Kristin and Todd’s marriage.
“We fell in love with this place right from the moment we saw it," Kristin says.
"It really fit into our vintage theme and felt cozy, rather than large and over the top."
Collectioins of beautiful blooms similar to the bouquets were arranged as short and
tall centerpieces for a romantic touch. Charming details such as antique bouwls atop
old hardcover books helped showcase the couple's love of reading. The literary
concept was carried through in the favors - books of poetry for each guest.
Guests were eager to compliment the menu, which included a vegetarian selection
of angel hair pasta and steamed vegetables as well as chich piccata and fillet
mignon. The cake, made by a favorite local bakery of the bride's family, featured
fudge and raspberry filling. Ivory and gold fondant adorned the decadent treat.
The wedding day was the best day ofour lives," Kristin says. "We laughed, danced,
ate and drank and kissed every single person at the reception."
